Police say pedestrian killed in Route 8 Naugatuck crash was 14

NAUGATUCK — A 14-year-old was killed in a pedestrian crash that occurred last week.

According to State Police, around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 22 a pedestrian was hit by a car that was driving north on Route 8 in Naugatuck. After the initial impact, the pedestrian was then hit by a second car that was driving south on Route 8.

Both cars stopped after hitting the pedestrian, and neither driver was hurt.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. On Tuesday, December 27, police identified the pedestrian as Michael Shore, 14, of Southington.

Police did not release information on why Shore was walking on the route or how he was hit.

Shore’s family confirms to FOX 61 that the teen was killed. We also learned that his older sister, Kayli, 17, has non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and the family is asking for donations to be made to a GoFundMe set up for her in lieu of flowers for Michael.

The investigation is ongoing. If you saw the crash please call 203-393-4200.
