Police: Woman dies in multi-vehicle crash in Waterford

WATERFORD — Police said a 24-year-old woman was killed and at least three other people were injured in a crash involving three  vehicles on U.S. Route 1 in the area of Reynolds Lane.

Officers arrived at the scene at around 1:30 p.m. Monday and found multiple people trapped in their vehicles with serious injuries. Police said four people were taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London.

The drivers of two of the cars were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and are now in serious condition.

Police said a passenger in one of the cars, Stephanie Turowski, 24, of Waterford, died of her injuries. The driver of that car was Olivia Turowski, 60, also of Waterford. Police did not release the relationship between the two. A second passenger in that car was also taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The driver of the third car did not require medical treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
