On Friday, State Police said that not only had troopers returned to search the woods, but detectives from the Eastern District Major Crimes Unit, the State Police Aviation Unit helicopter, K9 search and rescue teams and others had joined in the search.

The search area was expanded from Sterling to include the southern portion of Killingly toward the Rhode Island state line.

However, at sunset the search was again put on hold. Officials tell FOX 61 that they will relaunch the search if new information is developed, or if something new is gleaned from existing information.

While volunteer search crews have continued their efforts to find Allen since Monday, State Police are now imploring them to stop. State Police have asked all independent searchers to leave the woods and allow the official search teams to continue their efforts.

Thursday night about 100 people came together for a candlelight vigil, praying for Allen's safe return.

Allen is described as white, approximately 5-foot-10, weighing 130 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a camouflage sweatshirt and a backpack. His dirt bike is a red Honda XR100.

Police ask that anybody who may have seen him or know his whereabouts call 860-779-4900.
