SAN DIEGO — The killer whale show at SeaWorld is coming to an end after California became the first state to ban breeding killer whales and holding them in captivity.

Sunday will be the last run of One Ocean orca show at SeaWorld San Diego. The theme park advertised the 25-minute show on their website.

Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill into law last September, and it went into effect in 2017, passed after years of controversy over keeping killer whales to entertain humans.

Earlier this year, SeaWorld’s request to expand their killer whale exhibit into a more educational experience for guests was granted, but at the same time they were ordered to stop their orca breeding program.

SeaWorld is building its first park outside the United States and it won’t have any killer whales.
