BURLINGTON — State police shot a man after he refused to drop a gun Tuesday. The man has been hospitalized for evaluation.
State Police said Maciej Konferowicz, 49, of Burlington , was holding a gun and threatening to harm himself when approached by troopers on Angelea’s Way Tuesday about 1:30 p.m. Authorities said he refused orders to drop the weapon and least one trooper fired and hit the man.
Konferowicz was taken to St. Francis Hospital for the evaluation of what police said were non-life-threatening injuries. State Police said he was scheduled to be released Tuesday afternoon.
Police are investigating how many shots were fired and how many state troopers and Burlington Police Officers discharged their weapons, and whether or not Konferowicz will face charges.
The troopers will be placed on administrative duty pending the investigation.
The State Police Central District Major Crime and State Attorney’s Office are investigating.
State police identified Sgt. Jack Goncalves, a 19 year veteran of the Connecticut State Police, and Trooper First Class Laurie Deltorto a 22 year veteran of the Connecticut State Police as the personnel involved in the incident. The troopers are on administrative duty pending the investigation.
No troopers were injured in the incident. Police said there was no threat to the public.
