Buses crash in Avon, Hebron and Manchester during slippery morning commute

HARTFORD — Two school buses were involved in minor accidents Friday as lightly falling snow created some slippery driving conditions.

In Manchester, police said Pitkin Street was closed between Elwood and Boulder roads for a utility pole that was hit by a school bus, bringing wires down in the road from the accident, that occurred at around 9 a.m.

There were no students involved in that crash.

In Avon, police said a smaller school bus with two students on board was involved in an accident that shut down Bayberry Road. There were no injuries in that crash, according to police, which occurred sometime around 8:30 a.m., even though the bus ended up on its side.

State Police said in Hebron, West Road was shut down for an accident involving a school bus. They said there were no serious injuries, though there were a few students on the bus.

The road is not shut down, according to police.
