PUTNAM — Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam was put on lockdown Monday afternoon, but it was lifted soon after and state police say the scare was “unfounded.”
Police were first called when someone said there was a suspicious person reported in the area. By 2:05 p.m., Trooper Kelly Grant said the man was no longer in the area and likely drove away. An update later Monday afternoon, police said “no one actually saw a handgun.”
Troopers checked the hospital, schools, and surrounding area and found nothing, Trooper Grant said.
Day Kimball Hospital is located at 320 Pomfret Street.
According to their website, Day Kimball serves Northeast Connecticut as well as nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island communities. Day Kimball Healthcare’s network has more than 1,000 employees.
