MANCHESTER — Police are investigating after an early morning crash on Sunday sent two people to the hospital in critical condition.

Around 5:07 a.m., Manchester Police responded to a crash in front of 482 West Middle Turnpike. A car had crashed into a utility pole, heavily damaging both the pole and the car.

Both the front seat and rear seat passengers sustained serious and life-threatening injuries. They were not wearing seatbelts. They were treated t the scene then taken to Hartford Hospital where they remain in critical conditions.

The driver of the vehicle, 23 year-old Jaylen Tylon Glover of Manchester, sustained only minor injuries. He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI and driving under a suspended license.

He’s scheduled to appear in Manchester Court January 30th. Police indicate additional charges may be likely.

Police believe alcohol was a determining factor in the crash.

West Middle Turnpike was closed for several hours during the investigation and while utility companies replaced the pole.
