BRIDGEPORT — Federal authorities say 21 members of a Connecticut street gang have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a drug trafficking ring and several killings and robberies.
U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly on Tuesday announced the dismantling of the Red Side Guerilla Brims— the New Haven-based affiliate of the infamous street gang.
Daly says 20 defendants pleaded guilty and one was convicted of various drug, racketeering and weapons charges. Daly says several defendants admitted to their roles in killing people. Seven cold case murders have been resolved.
The 21st defendant, Robert Short, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Bridgeport in connection with a 2011 homicide in Hamden.
Court records show eight defendants have been sentenced so far. At least two face sentences of 30 years to life.
