NORTH STONINGTON -- Connecticut State Police have confirmed that one person has died in a shooting in North Stonington Wednesday.

Around 4:15 p.m., troopers from Troop E responded to 628 Lantern Hill Road after reports of a shooting. Police said when they arrived, they saw one person suffering from a gun shot wound and was suffering from life-threatening injuries. Around 9:50 p.m., state police confirmed in a tweet that the person shot was pronounced dead.

Both, state police and Eastern District Major Crime said they are still investigating the incident and have identified a person of interest. State police said there is no threat to the public or community.
