BRISTOL -- A 70-year-old woman had to be rescued from her Bristol home after it caught on fire Monday night.
Crews responded to the house on Topsfield Rd. in Bristol around 9:30 p.m. Earlier reports said the fire was on nearby Salem Lane.
Officials said one woman who lived alone was injured. Deputy Chief Robert Poggio of the Bristol Fire Department said crews had to pull her out of the burning building.
She suffered from burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital by Lifestar.
Firefighters had to use tankers from Wolcott to fight the fire due to a lack of hydrants.
The Bristol Fire Marshal is on scene investigating what caused the fire.
