Putnam woman injured after being hit by a car

PUTNAM — A car struck a pedestrian in Putnam Tuesday evening, according to police.

Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Grove Street and  Wilkinson Street shortly after 8 p.m. They say a car was traveling westbound on Grove Street when the driver, Barbara Charron, 67, of Putnam, struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

A preliminary investigation showed that the pedestrian, Audrea Quinones, 39, of Putnam, was running in the roadway and involved in an unrelated disturbance/incident at the time of the accident.

Both Charron and Quinones were taken to Day Kimball Hospital for suspected minor injuries.
