Shelton Police say that on May 30th, around 12:30 p.m., they received a hold up alarm at the Stop and SHop located at 898 Bridgeport Ave. A few moments later, a 911 call confirmed that an armed robbery took place. The suspect, now identified as Laister, showed a semi-automatic pistol and demanded cash from both tellers on duty.

When police arrived at the Stratford home to arrest Laister Thursday, the homeowner answered the door and confirmed tha Laister was staying at the home and was upstairs at the time.

When they entered the room, Laister pulled out a hand gun which led to a standoff with officers.

Around two hours later, officers on scene were able to negotiate a peaceful surrender and Laister was taken into custody by Stratford police.

Later, Shelton Police charged Laister with the Shelton’s People’s Bank armed robbery from last month. Laister was given numberous charges, including robbery, breach of peace, and criminal use of a firearm. He was held on a $500,000 bond. He will be in Derby Superior Court on June 16th.
