BRIDGEPORT --  Bridgeport firefighters battled a large fire on Stratford Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

According to Director of Communications for the City of Bridgeport Rowena White, there have been several fires there over the years – the largest happened in September 2015.

The building itself was owned by AGI Rubber Company and in use until the 2004 fire and has been vacant ever since. According to the Connecticut Post, the city received EPA grant funding in 2015 to clean up the site and develop it.
