NORWICH —  Norwich police are looking for information after two fires in were deemed arsons.

Police said first responders were dispatched to a fire at an apartment building at 7 Third Street Monday morning. No injuries were reported, but  family of eight has been displaced. Firefighters said that working smoke detectors alerted the families of the fire.

Police said the Taftville Volunteer Fire Department and Norwich Police Department responded to another blaze at an apartment building at 3-7 South Second Avenue in Norwich on July 3. Firefighters say that encountered heavy fire within the building. No injuries were reported, but an unspecified number of people were displaced.

The Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the fire in both cases to be arson.
