BRIDGEPORT --  Two victims of a shooting late Sunday are expected to recover.

At about 11 pm Sunday, several 911 calls were made reporting a shooting in the area of Colorado and Maplewood Avenues in Bridgeport. But police believe the two victims, including a five-year-old girl, who was inside of a house, were not the intended targets.

"We have a 73-year-old male, who was on Maplewood Avenue, just doing some work on his vehicle, when he was struck, luckily grazed in the rear of his head," said Capt. Rod Porter, of the Bridgeport Police Department.

The 5-year-old, who was among many people attending a family party, was shot in her left hand and sustained a fracture to her index finger.

"We have a unit, who just recovered a bullet that went into that house and we are looking at a lot of video," said Police Chief A.J. Perez.

Porter says the police have information that lead them to believe the people or person responsible for this crime are not from that neighborhood or possibly even from the city. Fortunately, both victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.
