WALLINGFORD – A wrong way driver died after causing a serious crash Sunday on I-91 in Wallingford.
Connecticut Department of Transportation said the two vehicle crash happened on I-91 South between Exits 17 and 15. Concetta Getmen, 77, of South Meriden died from her injuries. The left and center lanes were closed for a time. The crash happened around 3:45 p.m.
According to police, Getmen entered the highway heading in the wrong direction and smashed into a car a couple from Watertown. The couple was not seriously injured.
