HARTFORD — Fox 61’s Expect More HOPE, in partnership with Companions & Homemakers, is raising awareness about animal homelessness.  Because animals give us unconditional love and companionship, let’s help place dogs and cats in loving, compassionate homes with people who can nurture these furry friends in need.

About Protectors of Animals:

Protectors of Animals (POA) is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 no kill animal shelter and rescue.  Formed in 1975 to rescue abandoned, abused and stray cats and dogs.  They foster animals and provide medical care for shelter animals; and they facilitate veterinary care, administer medication, groom and socialize animals.  Most importantly, they offer love, patience and understanding that give fearful animals the ability to trust people again.  This hands-on approach is a big reason why POA animals make such great pets. As a certified Member of Local Independent Charities of America, they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program and cost effectiveness.

About Brass City Rescue Alliance:

Brass City Rescue Alliance  is a CT registered dog advocacy rescue group.  This RESCUE group is CT registered and has APPROVED 501(c)3 status with the Internal Revenue Service.  All donations made to Brass City Rescue Alliance are tax deductible.  Brass City Rescue Alliance aims to assist the Waterbury Dog Pound in as many ways as possible.  During warmer months they collect food, toys and other needs for the impounded dogs and the adopted dogs. They also collect items for the dogs we rescue as well as vetting donations for their care while in rescue. They network for the dogs at all Pounds, not just Waterbury.  Brass City Rescue Alliance also advocates for the well being of the dogs and their living conditions and strive to better improve the long standing customer service issues at the Waterbury Dog Pound as well as other shelters. They also help Waterbury citizens with questions, training, referrals/paying for veterinary care etc. Through constant media promotion and proper assessments of the dogs, they hope to save as many lives as possible in their day to day mission.
