3 men arrested after shooting at Hartford Police

HARTFORD — Hartford Police arrested 3 men who fired gunshots at police Friday night.

Around 9:50 p.m., Hartford detectives were on a routine patrol in the area of Main Street and Nelson Street. Detectives say gunfire then came from a blue Infinity G37 Coupe, and it seemed to be directed at them.

Detectives radioed in to dispatch as the car sped down Nelson Street. Detectives and officers attempted to stop the car, but it continued four more blocks.

At the intersection of Nelson Street and Martin Street, the car made a sharp left-hand turn and then collided into a tree.

A passenger fled the car, and detectives chased him. That suspect fired two rounds towards the detectives as they tried to apprehend him. The detectives did not return fire, and then lost sight of the suspect.

A 9mm semi-automatic was located in the back yard where the suspect fled from. As more officers responded, two more handguns were found behind 651 Garden street.

Bullet casings were found back on Main Street where the incident started, as well at 89 Martin Street.

Nobody at either scene was hit by gunfire.

A witness provided a statement, confirming the suspects were firing at the detectives.

Two passengers in the suspect’s car were taken to be interviewed and charged. During the investigation, police learned that the suspect that managed to escape was employed in Manchester. Detectives went to the suspect’s place of employment and began surveillance.

The suspect, ID’d by police as Shaquille Henry, was seen entering the parking lot and the business. He was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is still on going, and police say additional charges are expected.

Arrested were:

Shaquille Henry, 26, Hartford — Charges: Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm (x2), Reckless Endangerment, and interfering with police.

Sydney Lollar, 27, Hartford — Charges: Weapons in a motor vehicle, Possession of Narcotics (crack cocaine), Interfering with Police, Reckless Driving, Engaging in Pursuit.

David Nieves, 28, Hartford — Charges: Weapons in a motor vehicle, Possession of Narcotics, Interfering with Police.
