1 dead in Shelton fire

SHELTON —  Fire officials said one person has died following a house fire Friday night.

The Shelton Fire Department says they were called to the Fairchild Heights Trailer Park off of Bridgeport Avenue at 10:07 p.m., and found a mobile home heavily engulfed in “incredible flames”. A bystander told them that someone might still be inside, and firefighters went in searching for them, but had to fall back because the fire was being fueled by some type of propane tank that was leaking. When they finally got the fire knocked down about 15 minutes later, they re-entered and found the victim.

No word yet on who the victim was. The Shelton Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating.  FOX61 News will have more on this investigation as it progresses.
