This morning for our FOX61 Coffee Cup Salute, we are saluting LEGO Systems in Enfield. At the North American Headquarters, master builders create the newest LEGO sets and awesome designs for events like Comiccon. Even this mug is modelled after one of the LEGO creations.
Normally we salute with a coffee cup, but this morning we dipped into Simply Jam!
Based in Barkhamsted, Connecticut, Simply Jam offers a line of unique jalapeno jams that range from mild to extra hot, and include flavors such as garlic, cranberry jalapeno and mint. Visit their website to find where they are available at a store near you!
In this morning's coffee cup salute, we are saluting Paws Pet Resort in Cheshire!
Joe and Robin Whitright opened up Paws in 2007, and have been expanding ever since. It offers daycare, overnight boarding, and grooming services for the dogs and cats! They have some cool spaces they board the dogs in!
If you need your daily dose of cute, you can also follow Paws on Facebook where Joe and Robin post photos of their boarders.
In this morning’s Coffee Cup Salute, we are saluting Advanced Physical Therapy. It has five different locations and provides physical therapy, sports medicine and athletic training. It does training for the New Britain Bees, too. There are about 15 therapists with the different offices. FOX 61 thanks owner Dave Donnelly for sending us a travel mug.
This morning on the FOX 61 Coffee Cup Salute, we are saluting LoganTech, maker of ProxTalker. The Waterbury company was founded in 2004 by Glen Dobbs, who wanted to create a device to communicate with his son, who has autism and is non-verbal. Since then, LoganTech has created devices that allow children to communicate without words and has expanded into Braille learning systems, as well. All manufacturing is done in Waterbury, and Dobbs uses local suppliers for his products.
We're saluting Edible Arrangements in Wallingford. The company was founded by Tariq Farid. The first store opened in East Haven in 1999. Over the years, the company has grown to 1300 stores in the U.S. and internationally. There are approximately 900 franchisees. Farid said he wanted a ‘wow’ factor with his creations. Not only are the fruit arrangements wowing customers, but the company is also is expanding its product line to feature things like smoothies.
This morning on the FOX 61 Coffee Cup Salute, we are saluting Berkins Blend Café in Glastonbury. The café is the creation of husband and wife team Andrea Hawkins and Douglas Barber. It came about after the two were laid off from their jobs in corporate America. The café serves as a gathering place for meetings and a place to stop for your morning cup of joe. Try the Nitro coffee, which is poured from a tap, just like a Guinness beer.
We are saluting businesses all across Connecticut! On Tuesday mornings, FOX 61 will hold its Coffee Cup Salute to highlight your business. This week, we salute PEZ in Orange, Connecticut. If you have a PEZ dispenser from 1975 on, it came from the factory in Orange. About 80 to 100 employees work there depending on the season, and they are cranking out new creations all the time. If you visit the PEZ Visitor’s Center, you may even get to try out one of the new flavors the company is testing. Check out the history on the walls there, too. It shows you were PEZ started and the upcoming collector’s items about to go on sale.
