LOWELL, Mass. — The company “Bullet Blocker” has seen a recent spike in sales of its bulletproof school supplies following the latest deadly shooting rampage at a high school in Parkland, Florida MassLive reports.
Company founder Joe Curran told the Boston Herald that he has not seen such an increase in sales since the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut or the 2016 truck terror attack in Nice, France.
The company, which operates manufacturing and shipping at facilities in Lowell and conducts most transactions online, sells a wide range of bulletproof materials. Backpacks, zip-up notebooks and folders, briefcases and a variety of clothing all come with different levels of bulletproof plates. Products are typically custom-made and take several weeks to ship out.
The company offers Level IIA, II and IIIA bulletproof plates, which range from 4mm-9mm in thickness. The company says none of its products protect against rifle rounds, like the AR-15 semiautomatic weapon police say was used by Nikolas Cruz to shoot 17 students and staff in Parkland, Florida.
