NEW LONDON -- Police are investigating after a man was shot in the back at a gas station early Monday morning.
A man who was working at Ravi Petro Mart at 290 Broad Street in New London said that the victim was a regular customer. The shooting happened at around 1:30 a.m.
According to the store clerk, the suspect took off, and the man who was shot was taken to L+M Hospital. The victim was then flown to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The clerk said this is the first time anything "intense like this has happened here".
Police had the scene roped off for several hours while a search using a police K9 was unsuccessful.
