BRISTOL --  A video showing an encounter between a Bristol police officer and a suspect has gone viral.

The confrontation took place near the corner of South and Union Street Wednesday. Bristol police said two officers were injured, one skinned his knee and the other broke his hand.

FOX61 spoke to Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu who said she has viewed the video with the police chief of Bristol. The mayor said the suspect, who hasn't been identified yet, was initially stopped for a motor vehicle infraction.

Police said, "We still have not been able to positively identify  the suspect because he is not cooperating with the investigation.  Once we identify him and get an accurate record of arrest the BPD will put out his name and charges.  One officer returned to work, the other officer is out injured due to an injury to his hand.
