Crews battle house fire in Old Lyme, believed to be caused by lightning

OLD LYME — A house fire on Talcott Farm Road in Old Lyme is believed to have been caused by lightning, officials say.

All occupants were able to get out of the home after the fire started around 4 am. The Old Lyme FD, Old Saybrook FD and Essex Fire all responded.

Officials said there was extensive smoke damage in home which was assessed at $1.9 million

House is 6,255 sq. feet.

The cause of fire under investigation by the Old Lyme Fire Marshal.
