BRIDGEPORT  — Police in a Connecticut city say 10 pedigree dogs have been stolen over a two-week period.

Bridgeport police tell the Connecticut Post they think the dogs were stolen by an illegal breeder. Investigators say the dogs were all young females that have the ability to breed. Most of the dogs were Yorkshire Terriers.

Police don't have any suspects at this time.

Police Chief A.J. Perez says so many dog thefts over a short period of time is unusual.

Councilwoman Jeanette Herron tells News 12 Connecticut whoever took the animals can return them with no questions asked.
