NORWALK  — The Connecticut Department of Transportation plans to install surveillance cameras on the platforms at seven more train stations.

Some railroad stations already have security cameras, including the Stamford station, the busiest on the New Haven Line. Union Station in New Haven also has cameras.

The Connecticut Post reports that the cameras are planned for stations in Norwalk, Westport and Darien and will be installed by the fall of next year.

The department says new cameras at the seven stations are planned because of “security improvements and network infrastructure upgrades.”

The department is planning a public information meeting on the matter in Norwalk in October.
