MANCHESTER, Conn. — The Manchester Fire Department rescued an older man from a serious crash Saturday evening, which they said left him with life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters went to 29 South Adams Street on Aug. 31 around 6:50 p.m., MFD said.
According to officials, a car had crashed into a tree, causing significant damage and eventually catching on fire.
Based on preliminary information, MFD said that the car was going east on West Center Street when it went off the roadway and onto the grassy area of a church property, leading to the crash.
Firefighters arrived on scene, rescuing an 86-year-old man trapped inside the burning vehicle. The individual was taken to a local trauma center for their life-threatening injuries.
The Manchester Police Department and the Fire Marshal’s office are currently investigating the cause of the collision. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to contact Ofc. Nicholas Sinopoli at 860-533-8620.
