  • Oxford Murder Spurs Call For Stricter Gun Laws With Restraining Orders

Lori Gellatly hoped make a temporary restraining order against her husband permanent at a court hearing Thursday, but she never got the chance. Police say Scott Gellatly shot and killed his wife Wednesday morning. Karen Jarmoc of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence fears a loophole in Connecticut state law contributed to the murder. “On the order itself, it says he has access to guns and yet, there was nothing that could be done,” said Jarmoc, referring to court documents. • Oxford Community Reacts To Deadly Shooting

News travels fast in a small town like Oxford, but Wednesday’s sad news of the deadly shooting had a lot of local people in disbelief. The owners of Rolando’s family restaurant, Lula and Dino Bomova, said the Gellatly family had eaten there a lot. They said Scott Gellatly, however, had recently been showing up alone at the bar…sometimes 2, 3 times a week. The Bomovas believed he last came in Friday, but they said he showed no signs that anything […]

Summer is finally here and so are mosquitoes, something Ryan Gardner already observed. “We noticed last night or two nights ago that in the backyard that they were starting to bite, unfortunately,” joked Gardner, who was watching his daughter play soccer at a park in New Haven on Tuesday. The biting bugs are no laughing matter to Dr. Theodore Andreadis and his crew at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. • Tuesday Night Weather: Stormy Weather Continues

The main concern is still flooding. There’s a Flash Flood Watch in effect until Wednesday, and we’ve already seen some pockets of flooding across the state. Cities like Bridgeport and New Haven saw road closures Monday night due to flash flooding. Some of the downpours later today could drop a quick inch or two of rain in a localized area. It looks like the cool front that we’ve been watching will slow down a bit as we go on for […]
