  • 28-Foot Basking Shark Washes Ashore At Misquamicut Beach

    A 28-foot long dead basking shark washed ashore at Misquamicut beach in Rhode Island Sunday. Basking sharks, common in New England waters, are a migratory species common from Canada to Florida, according to Mystic Aquarium. They are filter-feeders and not harmful to humans. NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center is performing necropsy on the shark, which is believed to have died of natural causes and washed ashore.

    WATERBURY — Police say they have arrested a 19-year-old man suspected in a robbery at Bucks Hill Market on Sunday morning during which an employee was shot. Tony Dupre is charged with criminal attempt at murder, first-degree robbery, larceny and interfering with an officer. The victim suffered a serious, but not life-threatening injury, police said.
