NEW BRITAIN More than six dozen people have been arrested during a series of recent drug raids — the biggest roundup in 10 years.

More than 60 were arrested in the last few days alone, forcing police to rely on neighboring departments for jail space, Chief James Wardwell said during a Friday afternoon press conference. Most of those arrested were involved in dealing, he said; police seized heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, cash and two guns.

Dubbed “Operation Front Burner,” the raids took place in waves, Wardwell said. Each wave involved seven arrest teams.
