Investigators have determined that skeletal remains discovered in a wooded area on West Street in March do not belong three local girls who have been missing for decades.
DNA tests determined that the bones do not belong to Lisa White, Debra Spickler or Janice Pockett. The girls’ families have been informed, police said.
A check with a national DNA index did not turn up a match, said Lt. Bill Meier. He would not discuss the age or gender of the victim, saying that doing so would be “mostly speculation.”
The bones were found March 13. Though the cause and manner of death are not yet known, investigators are treating the death as “suspicious,” Meier said.
