It was an exhilirating night at Waterford Speed Bowl Saturday for a Connecticut National Guardsman and his friends and family.
Staff Sgt. Steve Barrett of Preston, an avid racer crashed his 1985 Monte Carlo last April.
Before being deployed to Afghanistan in June, tonight he was presented with a new race car. It was built by fellow race enthusiasts at the Speed Bowl.
Those friends worked for two nights a week for seven months putting in over a thousand hours of work to finish the car.
