Stan talks with state Sen. Beth Bye, former state Rep. Jason Bartlett and WTIC-AM sportscaster Scott Gray about active NBA player Jason Collins’ announcement that he is gay.

Collins, a free agent who has been in the NBA since 2001, came out in a Sports Illustrated article he wrote himself. He became the first active male athlete from a major professional team sport to publicly do so.

Upon his announcement, Collins received praise and support from a wide variety of individuals, including President Barack Obama and NBA commissioner David Stern. Some believe the announcement will pave the way for more gay athletes to come out while they are still actively playing.
