Fatal Accident Closes I-95 Northbound In West Haven

A 43-year-old motorcyclist from Bridgeport was killed Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle ran into the back of a Jeep on northbound I-95 in West Haven about 4:15 p.m.

Michael Cooney, was thrown from the motorcycle after the collision and suffered a serious head injury. He died at the scene.

The Jeep, driven by Brian Guerrini, 24, of Boston, was in the left lane when it was struck from behind by the motorcycle.

State police at the Bridgeport barracks said their investigation into the crash continues.

Northbound I-95 was closed for several hours as state police investigated the crash.
