As the Connecticut state parks system turns 100, Dan Amarante brings us the scenes from another park, this time Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison.

The park has hundreds of campsites. Hammonasset and all the other parks in the state will open fully on Memorial Day weekend.

Some facts about Hammonasset State Park:

–          The park was closed during World War II and used as an Army reservation. Meg’s Point functioned as an aircraft range

–          More than one million people visit Hammonasset every year

There are 107 state parks across Connecticut. Stay with Fox CT this summer and we’ll tell you more about other parks to spend a day with friends and family.
