Several casinos are vying for one coveted casino license in western Massachusetts. And now the developer of a piece of land in Palmer, Mass., where Mohegan Sun proposed developing a casino, is pumping up its proposal.

A meeting will be held Monday night in Palmer to discuss $125 million worth of development on a site owned by Northeast Realty Associates. That would be in addition to development proposed by Mohegan Sun.

Northeast Realty Associates is dubbing its plan the “Gateway to Massachusetts.” Development would include construction of a hotel, retail space, a life style center and commercial office space on 130 acres of land next to I-90. This would be adjacent to Mohegan’s proposed $775 million casino.

But there is still the possibility Mohegan will not get the gaming license. Two other companies are also vying for the license with developments proposed in Springfield and West Springfield.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is expected to grant the western Massachusetts license by February 2014.
