The Hartford Police Department’s 2013 Safe City Initiative has included the Capitol Region Gun Buy-Back Program as a safely measure that allows for the disposal of an unwanted firearms. Michael Wash of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and Deputy Chief Luis Rodriguez of the Hartford Police Department discuss the program with Fox CT’s Erika Arias.
The Capitol Region Gun Buy-Back Program is a public awareness campaign to recognize accidental and criminal gun violence, considered a community-wide public health issue.
Saturday’s buyback program, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Renewal Team, 555 Windsor Street in Hartford, is the first of three statewide this year: others will be held in August and December. The program is anonymous.
