Fire Heavily Damages Windsor Locks Home

A fire that heavily damaged a house at 33 South Main St. early Thursday.

Windsor Locks firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 2 a.m. for a porch fire, but when they arrived found the house on fire, Chief Gary Ruggiero said. Firefighters from surrounding communities were called in to assist.

The 3,300 square foot house is owned by the estate of Dawn Rivers.

The people in the house were able to get out and no injuries were reported.

Fire got into the building’s walls and spread upward, the chief said. Damage is extensive, Ruggiero said.

The state fire marshal has been called in to assist Windsor Lock’s fire marshal in investigating the fire’s cause.
