Southern Connecticut State University To Honor Newtown Educators

At a ceremony at Southern Connecticut State University Thursday night, four Newtown educators killed in the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School will be honored: Dawn Hochsprung, Anne Marie Murphy, Mary Sherlach and Victoria Soto.

Family members of some of those women will accept the distinguished alumni award on behalf of their loved ones. Hochsprung, Murphy and Sherlach all got degrees from Southern, and Soto was studying at the school to get her master’s degree.

At the ceremony, Soto will receive a posthumous master’s degree in special education.
