WEST HARTFORD — Donald Fenton wanted to go to law school when he left the Army in 1967, but life got in the way.

On Sunday, the 77-year-old finally got that Juris Doctor degree, when he graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law. UConn law spokeswoman Michelle Helmin said she couldn’t confirm whether Fenton was the oldest person to ever graduate from the school, but said he was definitely “one of our older graduates.”

Fenton, who has lived in West Hartford for about 40 years, hopes to do pro bono work to help his fellow veterans once he gets his law degree, he said.
