Warm and humid with scattered afternoon thunderstorms through Friday as a taste of summer greets Connecticut this week

A warm front that moved into Connecticut early today will make for a mid-summer week, as a very warm and humid air mass settles across Connecticut for most of this week. This front will stall across Central New England where numerous showers and thunderstorms will line up during the next couple of days. To the south of the front, temperatures will average in the 80s for daytime highs, while temperatures will stay in the 50s and 60s to the north of the front.
This front will attempt to move south due to a backdoor cold front through the Boston area late on Tuesday, potentially affecting parts of northern Connecticut by Tuesday night with a band of showers and thunderstorms. The most likely scenario, however, will be that the front will stay to the north of the area through most of this week.
By Friday, the main cold front will cross the region with more showers and thunderstorms followed by clearing and cooler weather, just in time for the Memorial Holiday Weekend. High pressure will dominate our weather from central Canada with plenty of sunshine and cool temperatures. Highs will be in the 70s and low in the 40s and 50s throughout the holiday weekend.
