A shining film star attended a quiet meeting in New Haven. In the fierce competition to become the next city mayor, one candidate has support from Hollywood legend Danny Glover.
“I have an opportunity to witness something that I think is going to be really special,” Glover said.
Henry Fernandez worked with Glover on social justice campaigns in the past. Fernandez says when he told Glover about his pitch for mayor, his longtime friend wanted to help with the sell.
Fernandez moved to New Haven more than 20 years ago to attend law school at Yale, since then he has held positions ranging from chief economic developer for the city to running a program for youth. The bold move to bring in a big name could be a game changer in a race that continues to grab headlines and attention.
There are currently seven men and women in the running, so far all democrats.
