MERIDEN – Shots were fired outside the Meriden police headquarters early Thursday. No one was injured.

Police personnel heard gunfire at 1:05 a.m. At the same time, they received reports of shots fired on Hanover Street, behind the police station, police said.

Lying on the shoulder of the road were several shell casings from a large-caliber pistol, they said. A dark-colored, small to midsize vehicle was seen speeding from the area.

“I heard shots. l ducked,” said witness Dioniluz Clausset. “I didn’t know where they were coming from.”

Police gathered evidence from the scene; detectives are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call the detective division at 203-630-4178.
