News Pioneer Al Primo Talks About History Of Television

Albert T. Primo is recognized worldwide as the creator of the Eyewitness News concept.  The format revolutionized the presentation of television news and is now the industry standard. He is legendary for initiating the first “beat system” for television. He joins the Morning Extra to talk about the history of television and a documentary that focuses on his life work.

Primo is credited with changing broadcast news and a pioneer in promoting women and minorities into prominent newscast positions. He was also instrumental in training former athletes to become TV sportscasters. He is the author of “Eyewitness Newsman,” a book published on how he created the eyewitness news concept. And recently, Al Primo is the subject of a Swedish PBS documentary.

He is the creator and producer of Teen Kids News, which airs on Fox CT every Saturday at noon.
