A fallen Connecticut hero was honored Thursday evening inside the Legislative Office Building.

Army Captain Andrew Pedersen-Keel was remembered by family, friends and strangers as his portrait joined 63 others on the Wall of Honor as part of an annual ceremony remembering soldiers killed in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Andrew was the type of person that enjoyed life,” said David Keiser, his uncle.

Pedersen-Keel, who was 28, was a decorated soldier. He served many tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was killed in March by a man dressed as an Afghan police officer. His family said Pedersen-Keel had a great desire to serve his  country.

“He was a graduate of West Point, and I think when he went there he just had to get going,” said his grandmother, Jean Keiser.

A total of 64 names were read during the ceremony, and lastly Andrew’s was read and his portrait later joined

the others on the Wall of Honor.
