A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the Housatonic and Still Rivers in western Connecticut due to the heavy rain during the last 24 hours.

Expect scattered showers today with a steady rain tonight and tomorrow, along with decreasing temperatures.

Today: We will experience periods of rain and gradually less humidity. High temperatures will be in the 60s. Wind: SSW-NW 5-15 mph. Sunset: 8:13 p.m.

The cold front will cross the region this morning with a few more showers followed by big change in the air mass this afternoon. These changes will cause colder air to infiltrate the region. Temperatures will start out in the 60s, then drop into the 50s by this afternoon, with a wind shift from the south to the north. This front will stall to our east, where the showers will temporarily come to an end.

An area of low pressure will then develop off the New Jersey coast and slowly move along the front to a position just off the Cape Cod coast tonight into tomorrow. It will stall and spin copious amount of rain with an additional inch of very cold rain.

Temperatures will continue to fall down to the 50s and into the 40s on Saturday. A gusty northerly wind will make it feel like the upper 30s. The rain will continue to fall into Saturday night as temperatures continue to drop to near 40 with a cold northwest wind averaging 10-20 mph.

Low pressure will finally move northeast on Sunday, however it will be a chilly windy day with a blustery northwest wind, followed by partial clearing. Temperatures will stay in the cool 50s. High pressure will finally influence our weather just in time for Memorial Day on Monday, with plenty of sunshine, comfortable temperatures, and highs rebounding into the low-mid 70s.

Extended Forecast:

Saturday: Periods of rain, brisk and chilly. High: 48-53.

Sunday: A few left over showers, then gradual clearing late, windy and chilly, with highs only in the mid-upper 50s.

Monday: Mostly sunny, cool, dry and pleasant, with highs in the 70s; overnight/early morning lows in the 40s.
