Hartford Names Mario Marrero The Teacher Of The Year

teacherOne teacher in the Hartford public school system has just received an incredible honor; Mario Marrero has been named this year’s teacher of the year for the capitol city.

Marrero joins the Morning Extra to talk about what this honor means and his unique teaching style which helped him to win the title.

Mario Marrero is a fourth-grade teacher at Betances STEM Magnet School. He joined the school system soon after graduating from college in 2006. For four years he taught at Milner School, where his mother was once a vice principal. He came to Betances STEM after Milner became a turnaround school in the state Commissioner’s Network last summer.
