Talk about low.

Thieves are preying on grieving families, hitting their homes when they’re at wakes and funerals.  Glastonbury police say it has happened at least four times since the start of the year – twice in Glastonbury, once in Marlborough and once in Hebron.   Investigators think the burglars might be getting information by reading obituaries, seeing the towns where people live and when funerals or wakes might have them away from home.

It begs the reminder to take precautions when you’re away, even if for only a few hours.  Homeowners like Ron Orde say they use old-fashioned tricks to beat burglars.

“My brother lives around the corner so he’ll check on it for me,” Orde said. “As far as locking the doors, making sure they’re locked.  And we have two dogs at home. That’s the best trick you can use.”
