Friday is World Blood Donor Day, a day to raise awareness for the constant and critical need for blood and blood products.

Paul Sullivan, CEO of the Connecticut chapter of the American Red Cross, talks about the need for blood and how easy it is to donate.

Statistics About Blood Donation:

  • Less than 10% of Americans donate blood annually.
  • Every 2 seconds, someone needs blood.
  • One person can save up to 3 lives with a single donation.
  • Donors can give blood up to six times a year.
